Date night is a coveted time, no matter what kind of couple you are. But what takes it to the next level? Dining al fresco overlooking the beautiful water at Diamond’s Edge Restaurant.
Seafood lovers, this is the date night escape from the hustle and bustle of Portland you’ve been waiting for, conveniently just a short ferry ride away. Welcome to Diamond’s Edge Restaurant.
This isn’t sitting on a deck and seeing the water while you dine. No, this is eating on the grass so you can take in the expansive views from any and every angle of where you’re sitting.
Start with the Lobster Fritters
If you’re coming for lobster, start off your meal with the delectable lobster and sweet corn fritters, served with a sweet maple butter. The fritters have a generous amount of lobster inside them, and the maple butter is a perfect accompaniment to the crunch and texture of the fritter.
Hot out of the oven and smothered in butter, this will be just the thing to tide you over until you order dinner. Don’t forget about cocktails, either. If you like bourbon, the Maple Mast Old Fashioned will take the edge off and let you believe you’re on vacation, even if it’s only for an evening.
Personally, I like my cocktails a little sweeter, so I started with the Diamond View Perfection, which was sweet, light, and exactly what I wanted on a warm summer evening. The prickly pear adds a nice dimension and ensures the drink doesn’t feel saccharine. From just this picture, could anything look more picturesque? Now, just imagine yourself here, and you’ve got a perfect Maine evening.
Time for Dinner at Diamond’s Edge Restaurant
You should probably already know that I ordered lobster for dinner, considering my love for it. It should also not come as a surprise that my husband ordered the fried clams, since both of us are pretty into seafood.
But, my friends, I didn’t just order lobster. Oh, no.
Because this is me and I am very much of the mentality that you either go big or go home, I ordered the lobster bake, for myself. Now, you must be wondering, what does the lobster bake include?
It’s a lot and spoiler alert: it’s all incredibly tasty. You get a whole Maine lobster, potatoes, steamers, cornbread, corn on the cob, and sausage!
If you like lobster, this is the meal for you. I’ve also probably never seen an individual lobster bake plated so beautifully before either, and I suspect that was true for the several people that either asked me what I was eating or commented on how delectable it looked.
Gotta say, I agreed with them, and somehow, it tasted even better than it looked! After making a mess and being insanely stuffed, I ended the night with the Nautical Navigator Mai Tai, which combined with the sun setting overhead, truly made me feel like I was enjoying my own little slice of paradise.
Truth be told, if you haven’t made it to Diamond’s Edge Restaurant, you’re missing out. Whether you want a dinner with an unbelievable view, superb fried clams, or a lobster bake to end all lobster bakes, you’ll find it here.
Because Diamond’s Edge Restaurant is a seasonal restaurant, it’s only open for a short window each year, making every visit that much more special! Make your reservations on Resy to squeeze out the last little bit of summer and the lovely Maine outdoor dining season!
