Okay, show of hands here. Who is lactose intolerant? I know it’s not just me. For those that haven’t been able to enjoy milk or dairy in years, I’ve got something new for you to try.
Ever heard of Good Moo’d? Well, let’s talk about this lactose-free milk that actually tastes like real milk!
What is Good Moo’d?
Not familiar with Good Moo’d? I wasn’t either, until recently. I was lucky enough to have some of the product sent to me to try. Now, being someone that’s lactose intolerant, I’ve run the gamut between Lactaid, soy milk, almond milk, and recently, oat milk.
Turning 18 and suddenly being unable to drink a glass of milk was a true travesty. Yes, my entire dad’s side of the family was lactose intolerant so I probably should have seen it coming, but I naively assumed that I was special and it would never happen to me. Sadly, my genes got the best of me and dairy and I haven’t been the best of friends for a while.
So Good Moo’d is another milk that doesn’t have lactose in it. Except unlike Lactaid, Good Moo’d really does taste like milk. It might be sorcery, but I’m not sure I care. It’s great for baking, cooking, or when you need a glass of milk to go with a decadent slice of cake that’s sitting in your fridge.
Frozen hot chocolate lovers, listen up
What it’s also good for, is when you want a frozen hot chocolate at home. Yes, I realize that most people do not understand the genius that is a frozen hot chocolate. But for those that do, it’s a sweet, chocolatey treat that I’m a little bit obsessed with. That obsession was only further fueled when I finally got to visit the home of the frozen hot chocolate, Serendipity 3 in New York City.
Since going to NYC doesn’t seem to be happening for a bit, having a recipe for this tasty treat is the next best thing. To get that true hot chocolate flavor, you need to use hot chocolate mix.
For mine, I used Dean’s Sweet’s Double Dark hot chocolate mix, which is honestly perfect because it’s rich, but it also has chocolate chips in it. Now, I realize you get the full depth of flavor when you melt the hot chocolate mix, but with warmer temperatures, sometimes frozen hot chocolate just hits the spot!
Other components of the recipe include crushed ice and of course, milk! Well, I didn’t feel like dying, so I added Good Moo’d to my frozen treat and you’d never know the difference.
