Thinking Lobster? Why Not Think Beal’s Lobster Pier?
Everyone knows that summer in Maine is all about lobster, right? Everyone has plenty of favorites and places that they visit, but why not open your mind to more? I had the privilege of interviewing Stu Snyder, one of the co-owners of Beal’s Lobster Pier. Celebrating its 90th anniversary, Beal’s is well-loved, and with good reason! Keep reading to learn all about Beal’s and why you should try them this summer!
All About Beal’s Lobster Pier
Beal’s has been a Maine institution since it opened in 1932 as a buying station before becoming the lobster institution it’s known and loved for today. It was owned by the same family for three generations before it passed hands to the Bernard and Snyder families.
Both families had always come to Beal’s as kids, making it extra special to keep the tradition going. When you love something so much, it’s truly an opportunity you can’t pass up.
As a co-owner, he aims to keep the Beal’s tradition exactly the same. You’ll continue to find delectable lobster rolls, fried clams, and other delicious fresh seafood. This is about as fresh as it gets, as everything is caught the same day. This is a dedication to the customer that Beal’s has been known for since the very beginning.
Making it to the 90th Anniversary
So how do you get to your 90-year anniversary after surviving a pandemic? It’s about putting customers first and getting a little creative.
Beal’s was offering direct shipping before the pandemic, but as many other businesses also did, made it more of a priority, especially during COVID. There’s also an increased focus on takeout now, which locals especially appreciate.
They’ve even streamlined the menu, looking for customer feedback to determine the true bestsellers. You’ll now find a new junior lobster on the menu this year, whether you’re more budget-conscious or you simply don’t want a full-size roll.
It should come as no surprise to anyone that the most popular thing to order at Beal’s is…lobster! This could be in the form of lobster rolls like buffalo and garlic when you want to switch it up a little, classic lobster dinners, lobster grilled cheeses…the options go on and on! Don’t forget about other fresh seafood options like fried clams, scallops, and crab, to name just a few.
Make Beal’s Lobster Pier a Summer Destination (or Get Lobster Delivered to Your Door)
If you’re going to Acadia, going on vacation around Mt. Desert Island or Bar Harbor this summer, why not stop at a Maine institution that’s creating memories and putting smiles on people’s faces? The 90th-anniversary celebration will be going on all year long, and everyone knows a Maine summer is just better when you have lobster!
And if you can’t make it out to the restaurant in person? You can always have a lobster roll kit delivered right to your front door! This is exactly what I did! The kit is so easy! It came with fresh lobster, butter, bibs, chips, brioche buns, and mayonnaise.
