Lunch in Portland can sometimes be a pretty pricey affair. And sometimes, you either don’t have a lot of money or a lot of time. Enter these restaurants, where you get the most bang for your buck and leave feeling full and satisfied!
Slab: Takeout means you can get a pound of pizza for about $6 and pop in for a drink somewhere down the street to keep your lunch at under $10. Or stay in, and sit outside (or inside when it gets chillier) and take in the great atmosphere that they’ve created to perfectly go with your lunch!
Mi Sen: Having a $7 lunch special makes Mi Sen a diamond in the rough, especially if you love Thai food. Think small bowls of soup that are bursting with flavor and perfectly paired appetizers. For $7 during the week, you can get an appetizer and one soup. I recommend getting the duck as an add on in a curry soup, because it’s a star! Talk about a deal worth telling the world about.
Anthony’s: Lunch at Anthony’s usually means waiting in line. But there’s a pretty big possibility that A. the line will move quickly and B. you’ll be served by Anthony himself. Their $5 lunch special is a slice of pizza, a can of soda and chips. You’ll be filled up and ready to tackle the rest of the work day at this Portland classic.
Asmara: If you’re willing to forgo utensils, this is a great place to stop by for lunch. Every dish is brimming with flavor, and the spongy bread is even better when it’s paired with entrees. $8.95 for lunch with smaller portions of the dinner entrees means you can try it for lunch, and come back later and get it for dinner another day. The lunch special is served Monday-Friday, so don’t try and get it on a weekend like I did.
